K.C. Dermody

K.C. Dermody has been a freelance travel writer for over 14 years and has had a passion for learning more about the world ever since she can remember. While born and raised in Northern California, she’s lived in Oregon, Washington State, and Colorado, in addition to spending several years on the road continuously traveling across the U.S. and beyond. Her love of travel truly began with her first trip to Ireland in 2001, and to date, she’s traveled to every state in the U.S. and over 40 different countries. While she continues to add new destinations to her list, some of her favorites that she often returns to again and again include Ireland, Scotland, Iceland, Canada (Newfoundland), Greece, Croatia, and Ecuador. While K.C. has lived in Baja California Sur, Mexico since 2018, she still spends at least 50 percent of her time traveling, with a focus on adventure travel, unique wildlife destinations, and ancient history. Some of her coolest experiences have included being surrounded by beluga whales in the Arctic, snorkeling with sea lions and hugging gray whales in the Sea of Cortez, hiking to the top of a volcanic crater in Iceland, paddling through the Amazon in the dark, and spending the night alone in a haunted Irish castle. K.C. was a featured writer for Yahoo! Travel from 2010 through 2013 and the author of Best Travel Guide for First Time Visitors to Ireland, an Amazon bestseller every year between 2013 and 2016. Just a few of the other high-profile publications she’s written for in addition to Trips To Discover include Hotels.com, Travel + Leisure, and Travelocity. She also creates tour itineraries for major travel/tour companies such as Unforgettable Travel and Tropical Sky/Canadian Sky. K.C. has an over 15-year background in sales and marketing with a degree in business and an extensive background in the healthcare industry, working as a travel nurse recruiter and account manager for many years. She gave up her office job to pursue her dream of becoming a travel writer in 2009 and hasn’t looked back since.
